This Tuesday, Feb. 2, two distinguished media thinkers will be speaking at Northeastern — John Nichols and Robert McChesney, the authors of a new book called “The Death and Life of American Journalism: The Media Revolution that Will Begin the World Again.”
I would like to discuss some of their ideas in class on Monday. Among the most provocative is their proposal for direct government assistance to newspapers. Please read this excerpt from their book, published in The Nation earlier this month.
They will speak from noon until about 1 p.m. on Tuesday in 90 Snell Library. Their appearance is being co-sponsored by the School of Journalism and the Communication Studies Department. I urge you to attend if you’re able. It should be an interesting hour, as well as good blog material.
